Solar Hot Water
The Federal Government is now offering a $1000 rebate for people to switch from electric hot water to solar hot water. On top of this the NSW State Government is offering a $300 rebate (ends June 2011). Electric tanks will no longer be available after 2011 and broken electric tanks will have to be replaced with environmentally friendly alternatives like solar. Rebates are currently as high as they ever will be making now the best time to switch to solar hot water!
SolarSwitch offer two types of solar hot water system, a flat plate split system and an evacuated tube split system (suitable in frost prone areas or roofs with limited sun exposure).

Solar Hot Water Systems
Conergy Split System - Open
This system consists of an open circuit
solar water heater with roof mounted
collector panels and a ground mounted
hot water tank. The Open System
is designed for frost-free areas. The
water is circulated between tank and
collectors by a small pump which is
regulated by the Conergy Smart Solar Controller.
AAE solar hot water systems

AAE solar hot water systems consist of an inner and outer tube sealed under vacuum, using 2mm glass, the strongest tubes on the world market. The sun’s rays heat the liquid in the heat pipe. The heated liquid changes state to steam and then passes the heat to the recirculating water from the storage tank. Through the AAE controller, the tank will heat to temperature and protect against frost to minus 15° c. Electric or gas boost will ensure you never run out of hot water.
